Getting ready for Ribfest 2011

So my boyfriend's family has a huge family reunion every year!  This is the time of the year that the whole family is able to come out and visit.

Now that's a pretty huge family.  Here's the breakdown.  It all started with the Collin's children...

From left to right:  Dennis, Jack, Sandra, Trish, Mark & Eileen

Then they all get married and here's the picture with their spouses.

Sheila, Carol, Rod, John, Mary Jo & Paul

Everyone went on to have children, and their children went on to have children.

The Collins
The Collins minus Andrew & Kathryn
The Campbells minus Kate, Daniel & Milena
The Stendzis
The Collins
They Hussey minus Cael
I thought I had a huge family but this is a huge family.  These family reunions are always so much fun.

During the family reunion, we also have a little competition and make it a rib-fest.  The idea is to have every household make ribs for everyone to try.  The catch is, that the sauce and rubs have to be homemade.

The winner of the best ribs gets to take home the pig trophy.  Last year's winner was Annie.  She got to take home the pig.

Every year, the competition gets stiffer and stiffer.  Everyone starts to think of the next recipe that they want to do in order to win the trophy.  Tim and I have been working hard and have tried many, many recipes.  After about 7 different recipes, I think we may have found it.

Here's what the ribs looked like before...

Here's what they look like after...

After
All I can tell you is that the ribs are really good.  My boyfriend approves so they must be good.  Can't give you the recipe just yet, cause the competition isn't until next week and I wouldn't want my recipe out there for the family to see!  Haha!  Once next weekend is over, I'll be sure to post the recipe for you all to try!

Cheers!

Vancouver Riot

I know this is pretty old news, but it's still the talk across the nation.  The Vancouver Riots.  It was a sad and embarrassing event that occurred.

For those that are out of the loop, here's a little background of what happened.  It occurred on the night of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Vancouver.   On Wednesday June 15, it was one of the most highly anticipated night in hockey.  One of the original 6 hockey team The Boston Bruins competes with a Canadian franchise The Vancouver Canucks to win the coveted Stanley Cup.

Boston Bruins ended up winning the series and the proud owners of the Stanley Cup with a score of 4-0.  Either way, the exciting night and the details of the game were completely over-shadowed by the violence and destruction that occured in the streets of Vancouver shortly after the game.   Mobs of frustrated fans showed their anger by setting cars on fire, breaking windows, looting and starting brawls.  There were reports of several people being stabbed as well.

What a disgusting sight!

Setting police car on fire.
Now the whole city of Vancouver is not to be blamed.  I have friends and family there and they would never participate in an event like this.  It's just shameful, that a large group of people had the nerve to destroy a beautiful city like Vancouver.  Not only destroy the city, but ruin the reputation of hockey fans and the people of Vancouver.

Some people were just complete idiots.  Knowing what you did to destroy the city, why would you publicly admit that you had any part in it?

"Maced in the face, hit with a Batton, tear gassed twice, 6 broken fingers, blood everywhere, punched a f*cken pig in the head with riot gear on knocked him to the ground, through the jersey on a burning cop car flipped some cars, burnt some smart cars, burnt some cop cars, I'm on the news...one...word...History :) :) :))

"What happened to all those pics from game 7 night/next morning?  you should email me a bunch"  "except the ones where we were lighting cop cars on fire and stealing money from bmo"

"gurls i jacked up a mac store & a 400$ baggg f*kk i got hi over the head with a marican but i got out im okayy..."

This story was so big, that even comedians took part in poking fun of the situation.  Here's a clip from the Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Since this has made headlines, police have made a plea with the public to report anyone they know that participated in these events or ask that people turn themselves in.  Since this plea, about 15 people have turned themselves in, totaling 117 arrest.

Here are some more random pictures from that night!  Let's hope that the get what they deserve!

Very cool girls!!

Douche bag with the skateboard tried to hit the lady who was trying to stop them from breaking the glass.

Rising Water Polo star.  Father was a doctor.  Dink has been arrested!

The Bachelorette

You think someone who works in the television industry would be sick of tv when they are done for the day.  For me, not so much!  I work in the news department so when I go home, I like to unwind with either some good drama or comedy that's on tv.  Sometimes something as ridiculous as reality tv.  Right now, I'm addicted to the Bachelorette.  This year the Bachelorette is Ashely Hebert.  Now for those that remember, she was in Brad Womack's season of the Bachelor.  She was one of the final four.

Yea she's cute and the guys are okay.  But this season in really annoying.  It's too bad that I can't stop watching.

If you can recall, there was a guy on the show named Bentley.  He is a 28 year old guy who is just a complete jerk on the show.   Throughout the show, Bentley has expressed that he has no interest in Ashley at all.  He came onto the show, thinking that this year's Bachelorette was going to be Emily.  His comments about Ashley are ridiculious!!!  Very mean but for some, you can't help but laugh.

Before the 3rd rose ceremony, Bentley decides he wants to leave.  He tells Ashley that he was leaving because of his daughter, but we all know that it's not true.  Of course, Ashley is crying and begging him to stay and doesn't understand why he's leaving, blah, blah, blah.

After Bentley left, Ashley has been more annoying then ever!  On every camera comment she makes, its all about Bentley!!!    If only she knew what he said behind her back!

Here's the great thing, Bentley is coming back!!!  In next week's episode, he is in Hong Kong with the rest of them and Ashley gets to confront him.  Now, not sure if he is sticking around but I hope to God he doesn't.  Ashley is already the laughing stock of Bachelor/Bachelorette history!

So because of this choas of a reality show, I put up a poll.  Do you think Bentley will return for good on the Bachelorette?

First Time Blogger

Hello everyone,

So this is my first time doing this whole "blog" thing, so just bare with me.   I guess the reason why I have started to create my own blog is because I like to have a place where I can express my opinions in many different types of topics like life, entertainment (t.v's & movies), etc.

I should probably first introduce myself.  My name is Tansy and I'm a 30 something female, hence the name of my blog.  I work in the television industry and love every minute of it.  If you ask anyone who knows me, the would tell you that I have always wanted to be in the television industry every since I was a girl in high school,  maybe even grade school.  But that is far too back to even remember.

Here are some of my interest that you will probably read about in the near future:

I love to shop!  Purses and shoes are my weakness!  My boyfriend, doesn't like that as much!  Haha.

I tend to watch a lot tv and movies.  My addiction with some reality shows are ridiculous.

I try and go to as many concerts as I possibly can.  Maybe around 4-5 a year, depending on who's performing and where.

I like to travel as much as I could but it's hard when you have a job.  I try to travel at least 2-3 times a year.

I'm also a sports gal.  My friend Mimi calls me GG sometimes, to her stands for Girlie Guy.  I normally don't participate in sports just watch it leisurely.  Now, I watch sports for entertainment.  Don't ask me about stats and players names, history or background.  Cause I won't know the details.  I know who my favourite players and some others but not everyone in the sports that I watch.

Now some say, that when you are blogging, you should really only blog about one topic.  I don't know?  I don't see why it has to be limited.  Everyone has opinions about everything and should be able to talk about it.

I guess that is it for my first blog.  Check in again later!

Cheers!
